Design

They say that "good art is interpreted, but good design is understood."

Below are a few working examples by our graphic designers.  We would love to eulogise about their clarity and write sonnets to their use of spatial colour but that might be mistaken for interpretation and even the most egotistical copywriters should know when to stop scribbling and let the pictures do the talking...

 Wine Label #1

Picture

This is the new wine label we designed as a one-off prize for the Campden Hill Lawn Tennis Club Championships.  We gave it an old world, traditional feel because it is a very old and traditional club founded two years before even Wimbledon.

They liked the design so much they now use it on their House Wines for both red and white wines.

 Wine Label #2

Picture

Here is another wine label design for a more modern look to suit the new world vineyards of the ever emerging wine growers in California.

This is their 2009 Chardonnay label and they also have it with the design as a watermark instead of the foil stamp which is the one sampled above.

QReative Studios had to seek permission from The Royal British Legion to do their take on the iconic Poppy design.

But they loved the design and The Tennis Emporium now sell it every year with half of all the proceeds going to the Royal British Legion's Remembrance Day Sunday appeal.

Again QReative had to seek permission from Wikipedia to be able to sell this design.  They were refused though.  We think Wiki Leaks told them!  So it was back to the drawing board.

Eventually we came up with a less recognisable but maybe more powerful satirical design.  Proving QReative Studios to be a very WikidpisstakA.

Yes, of course, Chris Branden kept it in house when he needed a cover designed for his new e-book.

Don't worry, we gave him a good deal.

Mobilize Your Website

Picture

Chris must have quite liked the design, because he came back to us for his follow up cyberback novel, "Mobilize Your Website."  A sister companion to his QR Codes tome, about how to optimise your website so that mobile phones can navigate them more easily.

Another informative opus, like his QR book, only this is certainly one of his more entertaining works, especially the section on The Seven Deadly Sins, which features one of the most inspired pieces of writing you're ever likely to find in a book about programming.  (See section below.)

(We know, spelling words with "ize" one minute then "ise" the next, don't worry, it's not a typo, it's just that Chris writes mainly for the American market, and panders to them way too much, if you ask us.)

Optimising Your Mobile - The Seven Deadly Sins

No# 4  Gluttony

Picture

We couldn't leave, though, without showing you some of the naughty graphics we put together for The Seven Deadly Sins section of the above title itself.

It's a really inspired chapter that Chris Branden wrote on the mistakes to avoid when designing your mobile site.  It's a wickedly nefarious section, he dubbed The Seven Deadly Sins.

Based on various depictions by De Vos, Goltzius, Bruegel and Callot, here's a picture of the Fourth Deadly Sin: Gluttony, on the left, optimised for a mobile phone, of course!

Naturally, we wanted to show you "Lust" as it's by far the best one, but Chris Branden, and various decency laws, wouldn't permit it, but that one alone is worth the price of admission.

Or, even better, you can get the whole book here, absolutely free as a bonus gift with Chris's new QR Codes book, available on the link below.
